Dawn's Story

After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in business, I quickly realized that I did not love the jobs for which my degree qualified me. I spent many years going one from job to another only to find myself stuck behind another desk but climbing the same walls. My entrepreneurial husband and I started a business in the children’s entertainment industry when our kids were very young, and it was there that I discovered my love for bookkeeping and accounting. I have always been analytical by nature, and I have always loved my spreadsheets! This business gave me the opportunity to utilize those skills, and it became the foundation for the next chapter of my professional life. After we sold the business, our sales broker informed me that I should do bookkeeping for a living because our books were some of the cleanest he had seen. He even referred me to my first client. My bookkeeping business allowed me the freedom to be home with my kids after school, volunteer, carpool, attend their events and activities, be in control of my schedule, have unlimited earning potential, work from anywhere, and to finally enjoy what I do. I love helping others recognize their potential and reach their goals. I am the most fulfilled when I am adding value and contributing to the success of others, so being able to teach and mentor through Bookkeeping Life is a dream come true!

Jeff's Story

A born entrepreneur, I had my first paper route when I was 12 years old! I graduated from Texas A&M University and began my professional career teaching high school and working with the athletic department as an athletic trainer. After spending a couple of years in public education, I desired more time for family and higher earning potential. Since that time my career has encompassed technical training, application development, sales, and management. Additionally, Dawn and I have owned several successful small businesses where our skills complement each other. She is the Yin to my Yang because she loves numbers and I enjoy working with people! I am a salesperson by nature, and throughout my career I have found that I get the most energy when my work is having a positive impact on those around me. I am excited to have the opportunity to help others grow successful businesses through Bookkeeping Life!

Shannon's Story

My background is in sales, marketing, and operations. As a self-proclaimed extrovert, I get my energy from the people around me. My close friends and family say that I have “so many words”! I most recently owned a financial services company for 10+ years in an industry that is legally regulated. This required me to maintain confidential relationships all over the country. I enjoy increasing workflow productivity by building strong relationships with employees, customers, and vendors. This gives me a unique understanding of the ups and downs of owning a small business. I am a self-driven go-getter and am always interested in learning and applying new ideas and technologies as needed. I am excited to be a part of Bookkeeping Life and share ideas with each of you.
